about

In honor of part of my heritage, this is a journey through time. When I asked my heart for a song to encourage healing, it came through clearly and thoughtfully. Authentic instruments, nature sounds and layers of voices tell the story.

lyrics

We tried to get along, signed the treaties,
shared our language, our home, our practices, our food.
But the greatest trust of all had been broken,
then the empty white world promises had to do.

We walked on frozen ground winter season.
We know it's not the time ofy ear to move.
The young and old, the sick, the lame, the healthy,
we carried in our hearts everything we knew.

CH: We trusted our feet on the ground, our Earth Mother.
We looked to Father Sky for some sweet sound.
Sister Tree standing tall and Mountain Brother,
they couldn't lift the clouds; our Souls crying out-loud.

We watched each other fall and stumble.
We held each other tight in the cold.
We laid to rest and honored those who perished.
And we wept for all the land and the life we had known.
Oh...oh...oh...

Bridge: Peace pipe, drumming, dance of life.
We still carry Cherokee pride.

Our spirits they live on all around you.
We are the glints of light on fallen snow.
We're in the coyote's howl, the red-tailed hawk that circles.
We will remember our tears and from them we will grow.

CH: We trusted our feet on the ground, our Earth Mother.
We looked to Father Sky for some sweet sound.
Sister Tree standing tall and Mountain Brother,
Great Spirit lifted the clouds. We're here again somehow.
Oh... oh... oh...

about

Janie Worm Seattle, Washington

Music is the language of my heart and my favorite form of creative expression. Writing songs all my life, I feel the healing love and truth that come through. I'm humbly grateful. I sing because songs are given to me. I pass them on so that anyone who resonates may also benefit. As we each step into our full light, we encourage others to do the same. Thanks so much for your love & support. Enjoy! ... more
